Encore is a Garment Buying Agency dedicated to promoting Indian heritage and textile craft techniques. They collaborate with Indigenous artisans and emphasize sustainable production processes. As an intermediary between global clients and Indian producers, the project aimed to blend cultural sensibilities, with branding that reflects the chaotic nature of the apparel industry within an ordered Western format.
Encore lacked a distinct brand identity and value proposition, making it difficult to differentiate from competitors in the saturated garment sourcing industry. The challenge was to effectively communicate their eco-friendly practices to attract clients seeking responsible sourcing solutions.
To inform the branding strategy, I spent six months as a merchandise manager in a Noida factory, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by textile manufacturers. This experience led to the creation of a photo-documentation project that served as the foundation for developing the brand identity. The brand language was crafted using visual stories from the production process, incorporating warm tones that evoke India's textile heritage while integrating industrial elements that reflect the factory environment.
The revamped brand identity allowed Encore to effectively communicate its commitment to sustainability and cultural heritage, enhancing its visibility in the competitive garment sourcing market. This new identity helped attract clients interested in responsible sourcing solutions, ultimately strengthening Encore's position as a leader in promoting Indian textile crafts.
